What is JYC?
Junior Youth Challenge (JYC) is a free youth club for high school-aged young people and is organised by Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF). JYCs are run in towns throughout the country on a bi-weekly basis in a relaxed atmosphere.
Starting on Saturday 26th November 2022, Crossgar JYC will run fortnightly in Crossgar War Memorial Community Hall, typically on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month. So our second meeting will be 10th Nov and then break for Christmas.
If you are over 16, we’d love for you to join our volunteer team.
Our schedule looks something like this:
- Volunteers meet – 7:15pm
- Arrive & chat – 7:30
- Games – 7:40
- Snack break – 8:10
- Faith input (talk/quizzes/etc) – 8:20
- Follow-up game – 8:40
- Tuck shop – 8:55
- Home – 9pm
Sometimes we will meet with other JYCs in the area, such as Ballynahinch. In January there will be a weekend camp in Seaview Centre, Kilkeel with other JYCs in the wider Mourne CEF area.
About us:
We have decided to move our youth fellowship from Kilmore & Inch Parish to Crossgar village following the folding of Crossgar Youth Club and we have subsequently linked with CEF to help us develop this youth work for the wider community, an organisation known well to us.
Our leaders are trained through the Safeguarding Trust (CoI) and are trained to listen, have fun, and help answer questions young people may have about life.
We’d love to see you at JYC! 😊
